Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

It is believed that approximately 4.4% of US adults experience attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Symptoms typically impair attention and organization, with co-occuring hyperactivity or impulsivity.

Symptoms may include (not an exhaustive list):

-feeling easily distracted

-boredom with tasks

-difficulty completing tasks

-fidgeting

-excessive talking

-impatience

-impulsivity

Treatment often includes behavioral modifications, such as working with a psychologist or an executive functioning coach. Some patients may also benefit from medication treatment.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Turner will assess for signs or symptoms of ADHD. If indicated, she will refer you to a psychologist that offers neuropsychological testing, so that you may apply for accommodations at your school and work place. She currently does not prescribe controlled substances for ADHD treatment, such as Adderall, Ritalin and Vyvanse. However, Dr. Turner does prescribe non-controlled medication options for treatment.
